It partners with multiple business units for the design and development of products and throughout active product lifecycles. This position is part of the Sustaining Engineering team, which is a group within the Operations Engineering team.
The Role:This Senior Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for supporting existing product designs and supply chain. This includes production at suppliers, contract manufacturers, distribution centers and projects to improve manufacturability, optimize costs, and improve quality. Essential Functions:Ensure that materials selection and product designs achieve optimal balance of cost, quality, and manufacturabilityInvestigate quality issues through application of sound problem solving skills in a team environmentCollect production data, analyze, report, take corrective action, and drive continuous improvementUnderstanding supplier capabilities to aid design discussions and deliver cost reduction while maintaining qualitySupport assembly, test, and inspection methods for productsPerform qualifications to support end of life component replacementsActively search for cost savings in design, assembly process or components in all productsAbility to travel locally (mostly Asia) to CMs, vendors, or customers. Travel is approximately 20%. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Design new and improve on existing assembly fixtures and processesHands on experience in mechanical and/or PCB manufacturing process engineering, optical knowledge is a plusKnowledge of design for manufacture, assembly techniques, die castings, injection molding, cable assemblies, and surface treatments. Experience with should-cost modeling is a plus.Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks is a plus)Use of AI, or other processes to aid in your own day to day work, and the willingness to teach othersHigh energy and results driven using facts and dataExcellent communicator that can work directly with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and designers located around the world, this will likely include off hours meetingsDemonstrated success in setting challenging goals and achieving them when working on multiple projectsExperience with document control Minimum education and work experience required:Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or equivalent engineering2-5 years of experience with relevant, high-tech, electronics and electro-mechanical products
